Our Journey

We started Groovy with a simple dream: to make sunnies that don’t just look good, but do good. What began as a side hustle turned into a movement — one pair at a time. From the markets of Manly to beaches across Australia, we’ve grown with the sun on our backs and a vision in our hearts.

Our journey has never been about chasing big-brand trends or fast fashion. Instead, it’s about slowing down, choosing better, and proving that style and conscience can walk hand in hand. Every frame we’ve designed tells a story — of recycled bottles, upcycled wood, and the people who wear them proudly.

Today, Groovy Sunnies isn’t just a brand. It’s a community. A family of sun-chasers, beach-walkers, and adventure-seekers who care about how they look and what they stand for. And this is only the beginning.

Our core values

What We Stand For

At Groovy Sunnies, it’s never just about sunnies. It’s about what they represent — care for the planet, a love for style, and a way of living that’s lighter, brighter, and kinder. These are the values that shape everything we do, from the frames we design to the lives we hope to inspire.

We love our Mother Earth

My goal has always been simple:
to design high-quality products
without harming Mother Earth.

And my dream is that the big brands copy us.
Because if they do, they world really changes.

Our History

2021

The Beginning

Everything started because I love sunglasses and wanted to use my entrepreneur skills to give back more than I take. It was my way of reducing my footprint and bringing more consciousness to fashion. I kicked off at Manly Markets with just 36 pairs — and within a month I was already running out of stock.

2022

Bianca Onboard

This was the year Bianca joined me. Her multicultural perspective brought new energy and ideas, helping shape Groovy into more than just a brand — but a community with diversity at its heart. Together we launched the website, built up Instagram, and started to dream bigger.

2023

1,000 pairs sold and Cami on board

By summer’s end I hit a milestone: over 1,000 pairs sold. Demand was so strong I had to skip markets because stock couldn’t keep up. It was also the year Cami came on board, bringing more creativity and passion to the team. With her help, Groovy started to feel less like a one-man project and more like a growing family.

2024

Recycling Plastic Bottles

2024 was the year everything levelled up. I introduced a brand-new range made from recycled plastic bottles — a big step forward in both design and impact. It was a game changer, proving that style and sustainability could go hand in hand at scale. The recycled range opened Groovy to a wider audience and set the stage for serious growth.

2025

Adelaide & Rebranding

I took Groovy interstate, landing a spot at Henley Beach in Adelaide. It was a new start, with challenges along the way but persistence paying off. That same year I rebranded Groovy with a new logo, a stronger collection, and improved materials — a fresh chapter with bigger ambitions.

2026

Multiplying the Movement

In 2026, my goal is to multiply Groovy. Not just selling sunnies, but turning it into a micro-franchise — a ready-to-go business starting at just $5,000. I want to give others, especially immigrants like me, the chance to build something of their own. Instead of driving Uber for extra cash, people will be able to run their own Groovy stall, be part of the eco movement, and create a lifestyle that gives back.
